Troyerstein - Chateau

Troyerstein Castle (Trojerov), located in the centre of the village of Rychtářova (a local part of the town of Vyškov), was built as a base for participants in hunts in the bishop's forests of the Vyškov estate, which belonged to the bishops of Olomouc. According to the wishes of Bishop Ferdinand Julius Troyer of Troyerstein (in office from 1745 to 1758), three buildings were originally constructed for this purpose according to the plans of architect Josef Cyrani of Bolleshaus, but two of them have since disappeared (Ferdinandsko and Juliusburg). Troyerstein was built in the first half of the 1750s as a rectangular building with two entrances and a private chapel, with its main façade facing the forest. However, it only served its original purpose during the 18th century. Around 1815, it was rebuilt into its present form, as it was given a new use – it became the residence and office of the archbishop's forest ranger. This changed after 1948, when the nationalised chateau found itself on the edge of a newly created military training area and became the headquarters of the Military Forests and Estates forest administration. Since the 1990s, it has served as a residence for several families, and in 2018 it was purchased by the joint-stock company PROVEX NOVA, which carried out its complete reconstruction.
