Zdislavice - Chateau

Above the valley of the Olšinka River near Kroměříž lies the Zdislavice Chateau, which with the adjacent village and nearby Troubky forms the village of Troubky- Zdislavice. Zdislavice entered written history in 1349 and at the end of the 14th century a fortress is mentioned here, owned by the Zástřizl family or the Kokor family of Kokor. The relics from Kopenice are credited with the reconstruction of a dilapidated medieval fortress into a simple Baroque chateau with a rectangular ground plan. Another of the owners, Antonín Valentin Kaschnitz of Weinberg, in the late 18th century proceeded to a late Baroque reconstruction of the chateau and the addition of two short side wings and a romantic park. The reconstruction of the Baroque chateau into one of the most charming Moravian Classical buildings can then be linked to the Dubskýs of Třebomyslice, who before 1827 also built a new natural landscape park with a family tomb (the writer Maria von Ebner-Eschenbach is buried here). In 1932 Josef Hlavnička, the director of the Bata factories in Zlín, bought Zdislavice from the Dubskis. After 1948, the Zdislavice castle was nationalized and served as an institution for the mentally handicapped, which was closed in 2000. The empty building quickly began to deteriorate, but in July 2016 it was purchased by Chapel Invest, which completed a general reconstruction in 2024.
